ÀREAQ is an organization in Barcelona, that brings together social sciences and health professionals to offer evaluation, research, and methodological support services to public administrations and private entities.

Mabry is one foot amidst the idiosyncratic forms of the late 19th Century grotesques, and the other among the rational maths of early 20th Century geometric sans-serifs.

The way letter Q was designed, with its special rounded tail, the sensitivity and delicacy in its drawing, gives an unpretentious touch of personality to the logo.

Project information

ÀREAQ is an organization that brings together professionals from the social and health sciences to offer evaluation, research, and methodological support services to public administrations and private entities.

Much of their professional research is carried out by reading scientific papers; In our initial concept, we tried to bring this experience to the web, a structure to allow us to present information through papers.

To facilitate the understanding of the “scrolling through papers” experimental navigation, we found it necessary to provide also, a safer alternative, an anchors menu, so users could move through the sections at any time, in a more traditional manner.

Although their research addresses very serious issues, the experience on the web aimed to make it more digestible, easy and engaging.

To break the monotony we transformed the papers into different graphic elements, together with a palette of 4 different colors.

For typography, Mabry worked perfectly, carried the geometric construction of the graphics, fitting in perfectly with the other elements.

Also, each time a person visited the site, the shapes changed color randomly, generating a new combination for each new visit.
